Re: "May I take your photo?" - To ask, or not to ask

Thanks to all for their thoughts on this. It's good to see others have experience the same issue, to some degree.

I saw a woman once, napping on the rocks by the ocean in Europe. Just as I was...

"May I take your photo?" - To ask, or not to ask

This post arises from a heated debate I just had with a friend. Although I've been shooting for well over a decade, I've stuck to landscape / nature / animal shots until recently. In short, I found...

To isabela_sor: Agreed...

I agree, in a perfect world I would have included more reflection.

Alas, in the real world, I was working around roadside barricades. I'd complain, but without a road I wouldn't have been there...

Re: my two bob...

Not a joke, just a challenge.

I started by tossing in the photos I had noticed in the past with over 100, then dug through the list of those marked as Favourites for more. If you know of a way to...

Hi Paul,

Glad to hear you've had opportunity to see Tracy Arm for yourself. It's truly a magical place!

Alaska is such a changing world that it's hard to tell the best time to visit. You were...

Re: my two bob...

Hey Robbie,

Just a few more thoughts.

First, the "over 100" photos truly are random, not specifically selected to better yours. If anything, I tried to keep away from those with far more than...

To jjcordier: About the ice

The pieces of ice in the water are not small, they just look that way in this giant landscape. These are icebergs that fall off the glacier, all part of the movement of glaciers that's been going on...

To ktanska: Thanks

For someone who lists tilted horizons among their pet peaves to give me a couple points for this anyway is terribly flattering. Thanks for your input!

Re: my two bob...

My mistake... here's the link to the group theme of pics with over 100 points again: http://www.trekearth.com/themes.php?thid=7966

Thanks...

Re: my two bob...

I'm among the many who've been curious about Robbie's rather magical ability to not only gather points, but also to toss off some rather harsh but practical critiques as "just a matter of taste"....

It's taken me forever to reply, I know, but I must tell you that each time I stumble back on this page your comment gives me a good laugh. Thanks for that!

Take care,

Re: To IaKoop: Re: your critique, Le Repas.

Hi,

You made me count... mine is 19th from the top, back in the days when the debate had just begun. Who knew it would take off like this?!

BTW, thanks to Stephen for the compliment!

Hi Enrico,

I noticed DAM hadn't replied to your request, so I'll explain as I understand it.

Adam: Can't add camera?

I tried to add a new camera to my equipmet profile. The model is not yet listed (Pixtreme PX1) so I tried to add it. When I submit the entry the page can't be found. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Hmmm... Not sure what you mean about the hair cut off here. There was no editing done on the physical image and her head is nowhere near the edge of the frame. Her hair is tied back... am I missing...

Hi Anton,

I finally got around to re-posting, but you'll be amused by the workshop that was done on it.

Thanks again,

Low resolution

Thanks for the workshop, but there's irony at play here. When I first posted this photo I was even more novice than I am now. One of the critiques I received pointed out that I'd posted at only 30Kb...

Re: To IaKoop: I suppose

Not everything on TrekEarth is in good taste, nor should it be. Not everything in life is in good taste, nor is even the concept of "good taste" itself without controversy from a global perspective....

To advance: Agreed

I felt a little odd putting the frame on this time and now, after your comment and a second look, I see why. The colours and light of the scene really are pretty but the subject, of course, is not. I...

Thanks for your input. I completely see your point and laughed at the oddity of it when I saw the shots. Still, this was the best of the roll (I am new to underwater photography) so I thought I'd...
