I always take a deep breath when someone asks this question because it's such a varied 'day job' it's always fun to discover what it is currently.....it never seems to quite stand still...so if anyone wants me to unpack that publicly I will - apologies in advance - but the really short and obscure anwer is that I work as the director - creative and executive director - of a community arts and media organisation that.......there you go I can't resist telling the current story........and it goes on and on and on......

don't ask....

please....

best wishes Kev

aaaaaargh! Louis......

How long you got......in fact how long have I got.....? I'll try and keep it short.....

Well starting somewhere my work currently...and it does change somewhat year by year is to....

Manage a charity in respect of it's general governance, policy and development

Develop specialist arts services which engage with young people at risk of offending and with those who have already offended

Oversee and co-develop a South Asian Arts and Literature project

Oversee and co-develop in school and out of school cross cultural work in target schools

Oversee the development of a rural arts programme and co-develop projects in this area

Document or ensure the documentation of a wide range of arts events - in video, photography and writing - this is where a good third of my professional photography time goes these days

Programme workshops, residencies and performances into schools and community venues

Organise or support a growing range of outdoor arts events

Oversee the development of a range of websites

Publish one off books and pamphlets and ongoing magazine publications - this and the web see another thrid of my professional time that I spend on photography

Develop medium to long term community arts projects across different arts media or through combined arts projects

Support local authorities and statutory organisations in community development and service delivery through consultation, forum development etc. This involves working with people from organisations like Social Services, Education Authorities, the Police, Health Services, Youth and Youth Offending services, Children's Services, the Racial Equality Council, Council for Vooluntery services ....the list goes on....and on ....and on....

Run a small photographic gallery and arrange exhibitions in a variety of other venues

Oversee the development of cross cultural sports development, which includes dance programmes

Deliver workshops and programmes myself - this is where the other third of my time spent professionally in photography comes in - it used to be the bulk of it at one time - a photography project leader or facilitator - but less and less these days as my work has 'gone upstairs' or behind the scenes.

Help run and manage a UK national arts magazine for the sector

Work in support of the regional body which promotes the sector I work in

Innovate in the areas of creative consultation and arts projects whcih relate broadly to community development.

Here's a link to a website........http://charnwoodarts.com/

there I guess that was not bad for the quick version of it ..........not much of a story but more of a list......sorry for that - or maybe it's a blessing.......

best wishes Kev
