Great d0ul0s 2009-06-08 7:02

HI Reed!
That's an interesting style of PP. The drummer exudes an attitude (in a good way) from his facial expression, which is very well captured here. Was he on vocals too?

Default To d0ul0s: Cedric Burnside

Hi Seb -

Yep, he does vocals as well as drums, so does the guitarist, Lightnin' Malcolm. I have a post on TL of Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm if you want to see the whole band. Both of these guys sing, both are totally intense, totally into their music.

Did you check out their website? I think a lot of folks miss the links in my posts because they are just a brown color now, not underlined like they used to be...

Thanks for checking it out today!
Reed

I just listened to clips on the website. They are good! It is however a little strange connecting the visual of a young guy with baseball hat and blues. But that's just preconceived notion. Without a doubt they are good. It's kinda like seeing Jamie Cullum play jazz. A little unusual visually but the experience turns out to be totally breathtaking.
I take my hat off to musicians who drum and sing at the same time.

I know what you mean, I thought with a name like Lightnin' Malcolm... well, he is good, and he is from Southern Missouri (if they can't have the blues down there, no one can!). I imagine he wears bib overalls when he's not on stage (maybe sometimes he wears 'em to perform, too) and has several dogs sleeping under his porch. Maybe a couple rotting cars in the pasture, too...

But, that does not discount from the noise he makes - he plays both the bass and lead on that axe. I agree that drummers who can sing at the same time deserve some respect. I've got a few more of that show and one or two make him look like he's in pain while singing!

Talk to ya later,
Reed
