Photographer's Note

Posting a picture of an extremely well known building like the Eiffel tower or the Taj Mahal is rather challenging. What can be added when it has been shown thousands of times before?

The same problem no doubt concerns the Egyptian pyramids. In spite of that I will try my luck with this photo from 1983 showing a small part of the Khufu, or Cheops, pyramid at Giza on the western outskirts of Cairo. It was built as the resting place for a pharaoh of the 4th Egyptian dynasty, who ruled for about 40 years roughly 4600 years ago.

I know this is not a particularly original composition, but there are surprisingly few photos on TE looking even vaguely similar.

In one workshop you can see the same pyramid from further away, another additional photo shows a close-up. All photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.
