Photographer's Note

My front door is not quite as large as this.

When I was at the Great Pyramid, the thing that kept flashing through my eye was that I had to find other ways to capture it besides simply standing back and taking pictures of its massive triangular form - and it is a very, very massive triangle at that. I decided to focus on pictures that put it to scale (see my other Pyramid photographs) or that gave you the close-up details you might not know about unless you have been there. One of the most striking features is the sealed front door of the Pyramid, which is well up on one side and quite massive (consider that each of the stone blocks in this picture is 2-3 feet high, so imagine how big the door is.) They carved a hole into the Pyramid, which is just offscreen in the lower right of the picture, but I decided not to capture it in this photograph. I tried to be faithful to the color when I was there, and had I included any sky I would have overexposed it, so this is one of the more faithful color representations.

In any event, interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
