Photographer's Note

This photo was taken a little before my previous one so the shadows in the dunes aren't quite as developed. The massive sand dune in this photo is popular near dusk for people to climb to view the sunset. You can see ant sized people of the summit of the dune.
This area of Morocco, whilst often referred to as the Sahara, isn't actually part of the Sahara which is farther south.
Sand dunes like this are popular for "desert" photos but aren't as common as movies etc suggest. In Australia with all our deserts there are only relatively small areas of big sand dunes. If you look at some of my photos from Western Australia that I've recently posted you'll see that deserts are more typically just dry wasteland and often very stoney. They also tend to have some hardy vegetation.
