Photographer's Note

There have been quite a lot of romantic desert pictures. I thought I'd post one which I think I shows the essence of Sahara: heat and aridity. I wouldn't want to stay here for long without shelter and water.

The picture is taken pretty early around 8:30-9am (and on the same day as my other Sahara photos) and the heat was already becoming unbearable.

I didn't really know what to do with brightness and contrast here: If the dunes were to be as bright as they really are the sun would take up the whole sky and just be white. Here I let it pretty much be - only did some small adjustments to tone curves to bring out some more color from the sky, reduced noise and sharpened.

The lens flares really don't bother me, I think they add to the intensity.
