Each face has a unique expression as this laden lady passes. For someone small and petite she carries a heavy load. She looks weary. It is difficult without some hidden context to understand all the expressions here. I hope the image conveys some kind of story to you as it has to me.

Hi David,
it's a spot on, if I may say so...
I'm not sure that it's so difficult to understand what the expressions on all these people's faces mean. If we look at them longer we may guess their thoughts, and it's not difficult to see the people's attitude to the lady carrying a heavy load.
The composition is interesting, too, though it's a pity that the left part of the photo (the man) is a bit cropped. Anyway we clearly see the expression on his face.
