Sillery Gaon Welcomes
Gaon = Village.
“Sillery” is a cool mountain village nestled amongst Himalayan hills. The name represents a plant named so, that grows there abundant. It’s only a 4 KM. trek from Pedong which is on the ancient Silk route.
The villagers greeted us with all their warmth and hospitality. It was Dushera (Last day of Durga Puja festival) and we joined them at their village school where they were celebrating the ceremony.

The simple curious faces, those peeped out of the windows were not at all hesitant to my lens or even to the bursting flash, moreover enjoying the charm of being photographed.
I decided to turn my back to the gracious Sikkim hills along with flowing Tista River, to capture the precious smiles on those innocent faces illuminating the deep green Himalayan village. Was my decision worth?

The nearest halt is at Pedongthat is a small hill town under Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling district, Pedong is situated at a distance of 21 Kmtrs. east from Kalimpong.
