Photographer's Note

I had always watched from a distance the busy bustling life in and around the nearby Brick Klin. I had never approached them as they were a group of people coming from different places and speaking different languages. I could always hear their chatter, the laughter and the songs while they toiled under the scorching sun and I explored the nearby paddy fields for photographing birds.
One day I saw some kids sliding down the side of a sand hill and I approached them to take some photos. At first they were shy , but soon I found them eager to pose for my camera. There were four of them and the child in this picture took some time to put her trust in me. I asked her name and was told "Vennila" which means Moonlight.
She was watching me with a suspicious eye and once she got comfortable with me , she started smiling. That smile transformed her whole face, just like the moon coming out of the clouds. So I decided to portray this in Black and White.
This picture is for Jean, a very good friend of our family, without whose help I would not have been able to post this picture.
Thanks for all who stopped by to see this image.
