Photographer's Note

This is most probably India's largest Dhobi or washing service in Mumbai. It's a huge place were mostly men but also a sizable number of women beat the laundry in order to clean it before soaking in soapy water and then in clean water. It's the traditional method how laundry is washed since hundreds of years.

Hello Urs,
Although the photo is not as large as the maximun size alowed in TE and lack of sharpness, but still attractive with it interesting composition, good pov to show the working space and also the business place hanging with many whitish fabrics, thanks for sharing.

Voilŕ le genre de photo trčs interpelante qui me fait me demander pourquoi les gens des Indes se reproduisent autant pour vivre dans des conditions de vie finalement médiocres. Et cela ne va pas s'arranger avec le temps.

Hi Urs,

Exotic places may not mean the beauty of the rich and famous. The social character of a place makes them what they are. The slums may be an eyesore and a symbol of poverty but this is reality of many cities around the world.
