Photographer's Note

Bishnoi women often walk long distances crossing sand dunes to bring home jugs of water for their families, balanced on their heads. This is their daily routine, and life is hard in remote semi desert villages due to lack of water. So this is no uncommon sight in Rajasthan and it’s quiet on the edge of a desert that’s why I like it. The quiet moments of everyday life which also really brings home how fortunate we truly are and the fact that this image always reminds me of that.

Probably a life time shot coz I won't be able to return to this place again; taken on a cool overcast afternoon near Kanoi village, Sam Dunes, some 60km from Jaisalmer.

Wonder how far they still have to walk.....

In accordance with International Women's Day on March 8th every year, the upload is dedicated to women all over the world.
