Photographer's Note

Late afternoon sun highlights Ternate town landmark, famed for its green domes.

On this tiny island holds an important part in the history of spice trade in 16th century. There were great contentions between three maritime superpowers then; the Portuguese, the Spanish and the Dutch to gain control of Ternate Island - a highly active volcanic island in the Moluccas, for their most valuable commodities; clove and nutmeg. Eventually in the 17th century these islands were in the hands of Dutch Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie-VOC, who secured a monopoly in the profitable trade....

and the rest is history for us to learn.......

wow this is a stunning view!
It feels quite surreal!
The light was brilliant, rays coming from a side they ensured a great feeling of depth.
Very well polarized sky, the colors so well saturated yet fully natural.
Magical place!
The boat in the foreground adds a nice touch to the composition.

Beautiful place taken in fantastic light. The Malukus have their own specific history and a lot of inhabitants are not very happy with their going up in Indonisia. In Holland thare are still people from the RMS, the people who want a free Maluku.

A very pleasant and calm view. Nice water reflection. The setting sun shines brightly upon the Mosque. I am sure an evening call to prayers can be heard.

A truly magnificent photo of the lake and building with its many green domes. The sunlight was amazing and added such a wonderful, warm hue to the architecture, which created a gorgeous contrast with the blue sky. The reflections look very artistic in the small ripples of the lake.

The mosque was captured at a perfect time of the day, with excellent light that gives beautiful warm colors to it! The reflections on the water are also a very nice detail of the image, and I also like this little boat on the right, perfectly positioned! Wonderful composition!

This is a beautiful photograph, so atmospheric.
I just enjoyed looking at it for a while!
It was a master stroke to anchor the f/g with the boat, it makes a superb balance to the delightful domed buildings, nicely highlighted. I love their shimmering reflections, glowing even more, in the sunlight.
