Photographer's Note
Leandro Erlich is an extraordinarily original artist who lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but has exhibited his works in some of the finest modern art museums in the world, including Venice, Paris, New York, Nantes, Istanbul, London, Jerusalem, and Tokyo... The visionary 44-year old artist describes himself as "an architect of the uncertain, who creates spaces with fluid and unstable boundaries." In a 2014-visit to Kanazawa, Japan, I saw some of Erlich's works in a permanent exhibition at the "Museum of the 21st Century." By the time you had read the foregoing note, I'm certain you had already realized that this is an optical illusion. How is the lady half-way down the stairs able to stretch out horizontally? How is it done?

Wonderful optic illusion, Bulent, a great idea that masterfully built - and also a fine take on photo.
Unique, interesting and intriguing sight.

Hello Bülent,
I hope the one who holds her legs doesn't let her fall :)
A great optical illusion, but is this a painting or a photograph of Leandro Erlich or ... ?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bulent,
This looks like the staircase has flipped onto its side, and it's not possible to climb it, only to stand beside it. Truthfully, I'm not sure how this illusion was created, but the result is great! I like the repeating pattern, and your lovely model in the center. :-) This is a fun and well-presented scene.

Hi dear Bulent, how are you?
Very very eye-cathing image via great geometrical effcet. I have some illusion to be vaccumed to the center, reflecting with your high sense and inspiration as usal.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hello Bulent,
I had no clue how it was done so I just looked in Google. Very clever piece of art and what a fun for the photographer. The lady in the stairs :) matches the colours wonderfully, what is an additional effect. Mind boggling composition. Well done :).
Hugs for CJ and you

Hello Bülent,
Before I read your explanation I had figured out just about how this was done, although I couldn't quite understand it. It's a very smart installation but also a smart photo. Actually, it was necessary to have your wife standing there. Without her the entire point would have been lost to us.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bulent,
It certainly takes a while to get your head round it. I guess, the artwork is a 3-D picture with a space in between for visitors to present themselves.

Hello Bulent,
What a wonderful piece of art. At first I didn't notice it is an optical illusion, but it soon became clear when I saw the lady halfway indeed. I love the perspective down all the stairs and the repetition of a number of elements, like the railing.

Bonjour, cher ami Bulent,

Hi Bulent
the of centered lady is essential in the picture to fool our eyes, we are sure the stairs are not horizontal, so... Is it a painting or a special building. We have to surf on internet to get the answer!
Well done!

Hi Bulent
The only 2 plausible explanations are that the woman herself is supported by a brace (unlikely as she is wearing light clothing and it would show) or more likely it's like the Poseidon Adventure and the entire building or what seems to be a building is actually on its side. Clever compo and good sharpness. Tfs!.

Hello Bulent,
This is a smart shot!
I immediately loved the repeating shapes drawing ever closer to the centre and to your attractive focal model.
I sort of worked it out but read your replies to everyone as a confirmation.
You cannot always believe what your eyes see!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Oi, Bulent!
A nitidez da foto é espetacular, assim como o efeito visual que as escadas fazem! Muito legal! A luz também é excelente. A mulher é um detalhe muito interessante.
Bom trabalho!

Hello, Bulent!
Really an impressive and curious view! At first sight we think it's an ordinary spiral staircase photographed from the upper part, but then our eyes are lead to that person that really messes up our mind! Very nice composition! Excellent job!

Hello Bulent
Looking at this intriguing picture I had to think immediately of the work of M.C. Escher:
”Relativity” and also “Ascending and Descending”. It is also curious that I wrote a few hours ago a critique for Sergio also with connection to an artist obviously inspired by the work of Escher. He must be in the air today.
Excellent presentation

Hi Bulent
now this is very very cool! so glad I clicked on it. I'm trying to figure this out visually, I wonder if my brain is smart enough haha.
First of all, I want to visit this gallery as well! Seems to be a wonderful experience.
and like most magic tricks, once you learn how its done its actually quite a let-down psychologically. So perhaps its best that i DON'T know how this is done. Humans can't resist a mystery, I'll keep it that way :)
excellent TE post. cheers
Craig
