Photographer's Note
Once again a look back into my archive.
2011 was year of quite a lot of travel for me, both professionally and for recreation.
Going back to Kyoto, Japan for my 4th time I came over some sites and locations by mere chance.
Like this drainage canal that serves the dual purpose of being a park and recreational area right next to a busy main road.
The canal itself is probably open for about a kilometer, starting as the water exits from a grate before in the end going into a similar grate in the opposite end.
Varying from a 2 meter wide path with a narrow half meter deep creek on some locations to open areas like this and going further on to a wide open (but shallow) creek area with rows and rows of stepping stones.
It was a place that was more quiet, and place away from traffic, slightly less hot than a Japanese summer city and a place where children could roam relatively free and safely.
...and discovered by me simply because we didn't want to wait 10 minutes for a taxi :)
