Photographer's Note

I went back to my home town in Hiroshima last weekend. I saw him at very old hotel that is generally known as Ryokan(Japanese style hotel).

He is the owner of the hotel. And the hotel has been there since MEIJI period(about a hundred years ago), flooded once 35 years ago, but he didn't want to end the history of the hotel so he's been working hard to keep it open. It was only 4000 yen for one night...too cheap!

He kept bragging about the panels. He prefers the left one because the tiger looks stronger than the right one so she probably works better to chase away the bad lucks. The panels were soaked up in the flooded water but one of his friends fixed it for him. The paintings were drawn in TAISHOU period(about 90 years ago).

The hotel was soo old and it had this atmosphere that I was pulled back to 100 years ago. It is worth to stay over a night there.

Check WS, I uploaded a picture of the back side of the left panel and of the first telephone in my town that was setted in this hotel in Meiji period.
