Photographer's Note

Hello Friends in TE,

I always like autumn scenes posted by friends here in TE. We don't have any season here but now is the dry season where rain won't fall here for two to three months until March. Trees like rubber and this locally known as Angsana will give some coloration and the leaves will fall off before the new leaves appear again when the rain falls in March.

Distribution

This species is one of about 60 in the Pterocarpus genus, which is reported to consist of small to large trees distributed throughout the tropics. Pterocarpus indicus is reported to be indigenous to Malaysia, but is also found in the Philippines, Borneo, Burma, New Guinea, and the Malay Archipelago. It is also often planted as an ornamental and a shade tree in several regions in Malaysia, including India, along roadsides, and in gardens because of its flowers and handsome foliage.
