Photographer's Note

In the Centre of Kathmandu, when one walks from an area called Thamel to other areas, temples, or to see the Kumari - the living Goddess - whose house is on the side of Durbar Square, usually the path does lead via this square. One can sit on the steps of the temple and watch the day go by. The image depicts a rainy day with a rickshaw and a Sadhu in his societal niche. The side streets were rather muddy as they were not paved; however, during my stay, Freak Street was finally being paved. A relaxing and musical place to stay whilst in Kathmandu is the Moon Stay Lodge in Freak Street. Yes, this is a real street and a real place, just off Durbar square.
