I found this old prayer wall on the way from Upper Pisang to Gharyu.
It was in a state of slow decomposition as if nobody cared to repair the prayer devices.
One can see how these prayer wheels are constructed: the inner spindle with a roll of prayers around it, encapsulated in a wooden cylinder.
Spinning such a wheel equals reciting the prayers.
This method of praying is most common in Tibetan Buddhism which is also present in some high elevated regions of Nepal (the main religion in Nepal is Hinduism: around 80% of population).
