Photographer’s Note
Gastfreundschaft means Hospitality in German and this word appears to me to best describe my Austrian Hotel experience.
When we book an hotel, always more using the Internet now, we expect a place to crash at night that will hopefully be clean, include a good shower and possibly breakfast.
In Austrian mountain resorts like Brand it gets a bit different. First they will expect that you take half-board, which we did. They the day after our arrival and a warm greeting that had created a pleasant first impression, we were informed that all hotel guests were invited to gather before the dinner for a welcome drink, where the hotel owner told everybody a lot about the village, its history, the hikes, the new activities being created and so on, such a gathering was good to create as well a first link between the guests. The following morning all guests were invited to a 20 minutes short hike to the owner's mountain chalet to have breakfast there, and this is this breakfast scene I present you today.
We had to leave the next day but the story continued throughout the week with the owner taking his guests to a several hours long hike, the day after was an evening grill party at the chalet and so on... My Austrian hotel experience is very limited so far, but considering how these people do their best to make your stay unforgettable, we'll certainly return !
Vielen dank Herr Huber !

Salut Jean-Yves,
Bon week-end.

Good shot, and great story! You are now responsible for getting me to add an Austrian Resort to my list of places to visit! I like the photo as well, because it shows the facility and the experience, with the people eating together. Thanks for sharing.

Pleasant shot, JY, and a good illustration of the hospitable and friendly environment that is well described in your notes. Rarely do we get to see people in your photos, and now in this one you have more than three dozen, LOL ;) Nice one, you could submit it to the Vorarlberg tourism board.

Bon jour JY, your picture portraits so well what you wrote in your note. For completeness: you just forgot to give the web-link of this Gaststaette!
Beautiful colors and contrast. Hr. Huber really seems to be concerned to please his guests on this picture.

Interesting and useful story. The way the guests are seated helps them to get to know each other; a sign of a good host. interesting, sharp and detailed photo.

Hi Jean-Yves. Well I'm glad to hear you had a good time and want to return. I've been in both my fair share of good and bad hotels on my vacations. The wide-angle was a wise way to go to allow for an expansive and unrestricted view. tfs and I like the note too.

Jean I really like this approach to the guests by the hotel owner. What a wonderful idea to capture the attention of these people with a visit to his own chalet. A hike and breakfast outside is right up my alley too. I love this idea and concept. Seems to me this owner is miles ahead of alot of others in North America. A very good photo. Ser Gute!

J'étais parti pour aller la haut sur la montagne, mais j'ai préféré la collation d'avant escalade, probablement légère et dietetique.
Tu montres bien l'ensemble avec le cadre.
