Photographer's Note

A calm, peaceful September evening on Adriatic Sea shore in Croatia. A secluded place this beach, accessible only via steep and narrow, nearly one hour (upwards) long hike, from a small pictures village Lubenice on the Cres island, which hangs from cliffs high above the sea like an eagle nest. A beautiful, white as snow, pebble beach surrounded by wild rocks and crystal clean water. Most people are too lazy to pay these efforts for this beauty. But, the place becomes more crowded during July and August due to motor and sailing boats. The warm Mediterranean days outside this season are the most beautiful.

Aperture priority, matrix metering. Scanned by Nikon CoolScan IV-ED scanner. Cropped at right side. The sky and clouds despeckled and masked (Magic Wand tool and mask brush). Mask shrunken for 3 pix to prevent blurring of the horizon into the sky. Gaussian blurred 2 pix, all at 4.000 pix picture width. Resampled to 800 pix width. Mask inverted and expanded for 2 pix to include horizon in the sharpening process. Sea surface sharpened using Unsharp mask level 75% at 1 pix radius. JPEG level 35 (Corel PhotoPaint notation).
