Photographer's Note

The Puy de Dome is a dormant volcano in the chain of Puys in the Massif Central. It is up to 1465m.

This photo was taken on the north side of the Puy towards the West. This gateway allows secure access, yet stressful at the summit. South side, there is another pedestrian access on a single path, the journey is risky because the winds are violent and is mounted on a slippery and narrow with the cliff as a barrier.

This stairway ends in a dirt road that used to follow the route in the chain of Puys, whose last eruption was less than 8 000 years, which has led the scientific community that a resumption of volcanic activity in this region is not unlikely.
