Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

My last post showed the beautiful, decorative flower displays that can be found around Pontivy, my post this morning shows the friendly ambience of the town centre.

Please click on Enjoy Pontivy to see the photograph much bigger and much clearer.

In Gert's words, 'it is nothing special' but that's the beauty of the place. In the centre, you can enjoy relaxing scenes like this, whilst on the outskirts it is very well served with modern supermarkets.

Pontivy, a town full of history The monk saint Ivy founded Pontivy in the 7th century. According to legend, he built a bridge over the Blavet which gave the town its name Pond Ivy (pond being the Breton word for « bridge »).

Pontivy also has a chateau, which I will add as a w/s. The chateau is dubbed the Castle of the Dukes of Rohan. It was erected in the 15th century and is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in France.

Have a lovely Sunday, Bev :-)
