Collioure Beach and Church of Our Lady of the Angels, which was built between 1684 and 1691 in a Southern Gothic style, with its famous bell tower is almost surrounded by sea on three sides. Initially, the bell tower is a medieval lighthouse, announcing the position of the port of Collioure by smoke by day and by night the lights. At the end of the seventeenth century, the medieval church in the hills of Collioure was razed on the orders of Vauban. The consuls of Collioure still obtained Vauban permission to build a new church on the reefs that close the pass. This church then presses against the lighthouse. Meanwhile, Vauban does not want to port in Collioure, he prefers the deep water bay of Port-Vendres. Because, Collioure does not need a lighthouse. This makes it the church tower. But it was not until 100 years later, around 1809 a municipal decision is made to cover it with a dome on the basis of a model from Tuscany.

Subject of several exterior and interior restoration, the church has seen its former sacristy rehabilitated to house the treasure. So are visible antique furniture, cloakroom Louis XIII, paintings of the fifteenth century, a reliquary of the sixteenth century, a Virgin of the seventeenth century ....
