Photographer's Note

This is the spa hotel of Bad Meinberg, a spa which was founded in 1767. The shown building was erected already in 1770. It's situated on the brink of the old historic spa gardens with a wonderful tree population.

Staatsbad (state-spa) Bad Meinberg is famous for it's mineral waters and the mud baths. The mud (moor) is gained here in a nearby hill moor and it's peculiarity is that it contains sulfur, which takes anti-inflammatory effect. Mud baths are administered from cold up to 42°C and it's a real feast for body and senses to relax in this warm mud ...
Another remedy here is carbonic acid. In the rock formation under the town there's one of the biggest carbonic acid sources of the world and it runs out of the bedrock in several mofettes with a pressure of 25 bar. You can bath here in this gas and it's effective for heart and metabolic diseases.
