Photographer's Note

There are two disparate ways to get to the Greek Islands by boat. The hydrofoil, passenger service only, Fast Ferries take about half the time. Athens to Poros is about an hour but they are a bit like riding a bus with dirty windows. The car ferries are a much better photography platform.

The passenger ferry captured here is just leaving port and is just accellerating to a speed fast enough to allow it to lift it's displacement hull above the water and ride on it's hydrofoil "Wings". Hydrofoils are to a boat as wings (airfoils) are to airplanes. The "Wings" can just be seen under the bow of the vessel as it begins to rise above the surface of the water.
