Torre di Palma - Fermo
The first settlement was called Palma and was located below, near the sea. For reasons of healthiness, and to better defend themselves from piracy attacks, the population moved to the top, where the Eremitani were already operating. The new settlement kept the name of Palma, to which was added the reference to the "Tower" of the Castle, and became Torre di Palma. From the ancient churches were rebuilt Santa Maria a Mare and S. Agostino, later embellished with works by Vittore Crivelli, Jacobello di Bonomo and Vincenzo Pagani and the village still preserves its stupendous heritage of medieval architecture.
