Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Please click on Looking Down on Lucca to see the photograph much bigger and clearer. Believe me, the improvement is worth the effort!
A photograph, recently posted by Carlo, of Lucca, made me realise that I had photographs of the town, too, and I wondered if he recognised any of the buildings.
I remember climbing up a tall, square tower, with many, many steps, to get this photograph of Lucca.
It had been quite a dull day, gently raining, at times, but I really had to take the scenes as they were as we were only in Lucca for one day. Strangely, this photograph didn't reveal the weather conditions.
I will post a second photograph as a w/s, here , taken from the same location but one which showed the greyness of the day. I think the tower may be Il Campanile di San Frediano, which Carlo posted last.
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
I was just about to say, this doesn't look like a rainy and dull day at all. It's a beautiful view from this high vantage point down to the many roofs of the town and the very nice patterns of the many old roof tiles. You included the square tower very nicely on the left hand side too.

I am envey, Beverley, simply because you had the time to climb up - and we did not... merely my humor.
The sight is awesome from that spot on the tower, old town labyrinth built style and seign superbly shown, and also, you had a mild light taht brought the red roof-tiles beautifully in multi-tones display.
Saluti,
Ike

Hello Bev,
This is a splendid view over the city with lots and lots to see, well worth climbing all those steps. I like the understated colours and the beautifully rendered textural detail.
Grey and wet here again today with slightly less wind, more of the same tomorrow.

Hello, Beverley!
Great panoramic view of the city, taken from an excellent high POV, with that old tower standing out beautifully among the roofs of the houses! Very good colors and sharpness! The view in the workshop is also beautiful in spite of the bad weather! Well done!

Hello Beverley,
I changed trains there but only had a couple of hours to look around so didn't spot this superb high vantage point. Good repetition of the patterns and shapes formed by the tiled rooftops. Tfs!

Helo Bev,
The church has a beautiful simplicity, but it's the myriad of old brick roofs that makes the real impact of this photo. It's a marvellous view and even those roofs that seem newer than the rest follow the tradition. It's an advantage to this photo that you cut off the sky, but the WS is also nice in spite of the dull sky. The view of the green hills and distant mountains is very nice.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
Reply to you visit to my picture form Bruges.
Saturday were 10.000 people from Basque Country in Bruges with Charles Pogostemon.
I think that your second picture is better if main picture, but this is personal of me.
Both pictures are nice also a view about the all the roofs.
You chose a nice angle with depth and perspective.
Sharpness and clarity are superb.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Ciao Bev

Amicalement

Hello Beverley,
Indeed, it looks like someone is lighting a fire on the top of the tower on the picture in the WS.
Climbing towers always rewards you with stunning views.
I like this image of a labyrinth-like town where it must be great to wander around.
The many roofs with red tiles are a wonderful element of this very beautiful picture.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev
yes, very well worth the effort in viewing the BETA version.
When i visit or think of Italy - I see images like this in my mind as a photographer. I was SOOO happy to capture similar ones when I visited. As i'm sure you're happy with this one despite the not-so-good weather. the texture is almost felt through the monitor, love the tight framing, the reds and oranges, the tiles, and the yucky moss dripping from the tower :) well taken
cheers

Hello Bev, As you know, I like climbing the towers, not important how tall they are. And I checked, that I was maybe on the same tower with Carlo. He was very brave, were there for the first time with me :). See here. Magnificent view of the old walls.
Have a nice time before Christmas
