Photographers Note

This shot was taken on a brilliant spring day with clear skies.

It shows the recently built Macedonian Orthodox church in the mountain village of Mavrovo at the altitude of 1220 m ... The village is a part of the Mavrovo National Park and lies on the Bistra mountain. The lake you can see in the background has the area of 13,3 square kilometers...

Mavrovo is a famous skiing place in the winter... Go visit! :)

wow, the bricks on this church is so clear... it looks like a place that is visible from very far! and using the sea as backdrop makes it really, really scenic! thanks for sharing!

Zdravo AnaMarija. Very nice composition with this fine church in the foreground, full of details and lovely colour.The setting, which is tantalizingly presented (just enough to want us to see more) is beautiful thanks to the lake and the soft blue colours of the surrounding mountains. Krasna crkva i divna pozadina. Pozdrav. Klaudio.

Ubavo, na samoto ezero ... ne sum bil tuka i bas gledajki go i ova ubavo mesto mojot nariv za setanje e uste pogolem.Ubava slika kompoziciski so dobro osvetluvanje i POV makar da mislam deka bi mozelo ova da izgleda uste povpecatlivo dokolku si go slikala barem malku od povisoko od ridcinjata koi se vo sama blizina ...

Zdravo AnaMarija, mi se dopagja ostrinata na fotografijata, posebno mi se dopagja prelazot na plavite boi na neboto...od svetla do temnata

Hi, I like the lighting and colors of this picture. The sidelighting does a good job of emphasizing the shapes of the building, without being too harsh. In a shot like this I would normally expect the shadows to be too dark or the highlights too bright, but they seem just right in this shot! The blue sky is also very nice. I would like to see a tiny bit more ground below the bottom of the church, though.

Hi AnaMarija,

I love the colors and composition here as well. You have done well to minimize the clear blue sky and focus more on the subject building and give it a sense of place. I agree with iGirl that it'd be nice to have a bit more at the bottom. I also wonder if this might benefit from a perspective tweak in PS to reduce the converging verticals. The tower on the left shows this most dramatically. The converging verticals is caused when we tilt the camera upwards. Sometimes it can be used to give a feeling of height like in your Street Light and Ray of Light shots. If you don't already know you can find the perspective tool in PS under Image>Transform>Perspective
