Photographer's Note

Everyone who plans a trip to Malta comes across photos of the picturesque Marsaxlokk harbour. Marsaxlokk is a little fishing village located in the south-eastern part of the island. This exact view is on the cover of two guidebooks to Malta which I bought. That is why I have also selected it to be my "Postcard from Malta". There were plenty of colorful boats in the bay but I have struggled a lot to get them to “pose” for me as a foreground.

On various web pages I found some info on the church which you see in the photo:
It was supposedly built in 1897 and is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, The Madonna of Pompeii. Between the twin towers you can spot a statue of St. Mary, standing in a boat and pointing out over the harbour to sea.
