Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
We had a most interesting exploration of the city of Arnhem.
If you don't use Beta, please click here to see it clearer and larger.
At one point, we came upon the church of Eusebius. We noticed that there was a balcony near the top of the tower and my husband and I were determined to investigate further.
St. Eusebius church also known as the Eusebiuskerk or the Grote Kerk, at 93 metres is the largest church, and the largest building in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
Notably the building contains an elevator that was added to the church in 1994, which allows visitors to travel to the top of the spire and view the city of Arnhem from its highest point.
Our friends Viviane, Chris, Christine and Will opted to have a coffee instead and went to the cafe opposite the doorway to the church.
At the top of the tower, there are two glass observation balconies, built in 2018. It is a little daunting to step on the glass floor, at first, but allows amazing views over the city.
The main photograph shows the cafe where our friends were waiting. Sadly, it began to rain a little so they had retreated under the canopy and we were unable to photograph them. You can also get a good impression of the neat, pedestrianised area, whilst to the left, is one of the church decorations, not normally viewed so closely.
I will add two more interesting views as workshops.
I wish we had had more time to explore this beautiful building but, time is at a premium when it is only a short visit.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
I would be very reluctant to step on a glass floor even just one or two meters above the ground. Doing this kind of excursion sounds terrible. ;-) But it paid to be brave and have steady legs. You managed some original photos, those in the WS being more obviously special. The main photo doesn't reveal the circumstances, but it's an attractive view combining an old part of the church with the modern pedestrian area and a few trees.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev.The view is not exceptional and not even friends can be seen because of the rain, but the effort to climb to the top was rewarded by the wonderful view of the clock from above through the glass floor. The scratches do not disturb the view, rather they give an original touch to the photo, excellent also the capture of the statues despite the light and the rain. Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
I like the point of view to show this place, the perspective creates an interesting composition, it is a different way to show the city, I like it!
Best regards,
Sergio

Hello Bev,
Arnhem the city that during WWII almost completely was destroyed.
I find your additional picture with the clock lovely to look at.
Through your friends, you have found the observation balconies.
With a fantastic result.
Nice panorama view about this part of the city.
Very well done, TFS.
Lovely regards,
John

Hello Bev,
That's nothing. The Calgary Tower has a glass floor on the observation deck. It's 160 metres above street level! https://www.glasscanadamag.com/images/stories/August%202006/3a.jpg
But the view was worth it. I like the repetitive decorations on the spire at left. Tfs!

Bonjour Bev,
Amicalement

Nice attraction in this town, which it is not in the route of many tourists, Beverley, and interesting to learn about especially with the glassed floor.
View down is immaculate, details appearing in fine manner.
Interesting WS's as well.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Beverley, you had us thinking that perhaps you had bought a drone!
Three excellent shots, the main post has us wondering as to your situation.
A glass floor, not so sure about that.
Excellent and informative notes.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Beverley,
I also visited this church tower once, but unfortunately also on a rainy day. I don't think I even brought my camera. It's a great view down towards the square and the café on the corner. The small turret of the church conveniently hid the concrete building on the left hand side as well. Well captured and composed.

Hi Bev,
I love the viewpoint which have elevators!
People say you appreciate the view better if you have to make some effort to get to the top but I think I appreciate the views even if I use an elevator.
My first thought here was that I usually don't go up for a view if the weather is bad. But looking at your photo I realized it is a mistake: From above you can take a great photo like this one here avoiding the sky!
Great geometry, very well seen and captured,

A very nice photo from the tower, but the photo through the glass balcony floor is the most impressive, a very good series from Arnhem

Hi Beverley
You have a beautiful display of this architecture for us. Your quest to discover the building from above is commendable. The workshop images were perfect and beautiful. Good text. Good luck.
