Photographer's Note

A photo taken in the popular beach resort of Noordwijk on North Sea, not far from Leiden, Netherlands. Noordwijk is an old fishermen's village, and records indicate that a lighthouse was in use there already in 1444. Other lighthouses have succeeded it since then. The current one, built in 1921-22, was declared a national monument in 1980. It is 84 meters in height and flashes every 20 seconds, visible for 18 nautical miles.

I was waiting to capture a flying seagull between the lighthouse and the flag. It looked as if it were an exercise for the bird to fly from one to the other...

"Learning to fly" is a song by Pink Floyd, from the album "Momentary lapse of reason" (1987).
