Norway | Vesterĺlen | Nyksund

We are now staying in Myrre for a few days, visiting the northern part of Langřya. The village of Nyksund is kind of a mix of traditional Norwegian houses and lovely modern cabins on a hill, surrounded by the impressive presence of the (mostly, not today because we are here) rough sea... ;)

The fishing village Nyksund was former a lively and important fishing village. Located on the far/north side of the Vesterĺlen islands, the surroundings are beautiful but harsh. In the early 1970s, Nyksund was abandoned and turned into a ghost village.
Decades later, Nyksund slowly started to come to life again, and today it has res-erected as a place for cultural experiences, overnight accommodation, food and various activities, located in the quaint, old sea wharfs /sea houses.
