Zakopane & Morskie Oko 1, a photo from Malopolskie, East

Photographer's Note

We spent the last weekend in Zakopane and made a one day trip to Morskie Oko (meaning: tarn). In my next series I will show you my experiences there.

Here you can see a man dressed in traditional Goral (a local ethnic group) clothes, parking his sleigh at the entrance of the Tatra National Park. The parking place is ca 1/2 hours from Zakopane by car. There you can chose either a 14 km walking to Morskie Oko or pay for a ride on a sleigh (or carriage in the summer). Though its a nice walk in other parts of the year, this time we opted for the latter one. In the WS you can see pictures taken during the ride: the road is really scenic.

Another topclass capture of this beautiful wintery landscape in Zakopane. Taken with very good pov and sharpness. Good ligth management and nice framing. Good and usefull notes.

Hi Gyorgy,i been in Zakopane in the last summer,so it's nice to see a scenery completely different. Not green fields but a white carpet made by the abundant snow,great shots there and in the WS too,i like it! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

A big change of style today - and colours! It's a scenic area and horses are always nice to watch, so obviously you had a fine trip to the mountains. Well taken photos as always.

It is a delightful mode of travel and the scenery is superb.
I can see the weather was very cold, not only from the snow but from the clothing of the passengers.

Hello Gyorgy,

Again in Zakopane! Morskie Oko means Meerauge, The Eye of the Sea. The lake is also called Fish Lake - Halas-tó. It is the most beautiful place in Tatras. But I haven't been there for many years because of the enormous crowds. Nice view of the traditional sleigh and Goral in traditional white trousers with the embroidery (called parzenica). I remember the time when all the gorals were such trousers every day. I remember that as a child my dream was to go by such sleigh. One day I went with my parents, I do not remember where to - and I was cured forever. Lovely winter scenery.
well, after my two last trips I am saturated with winter.

Hi György,
Fascinating view of this man and pair of horses offering traditional sleigh ride. This wintry forest could well be from Finland, and obviously we had sleighs too, although I guess most of them were not this well decorated.

Excellent pics. These working horses are well used to the terrain & cold temperatures and great to be out with them. This looks cold and fresh and so much fun as shown in your additional pic. What beautiful winter wonderland and love those touches of colour. Excellent capture
