Photographer's Note

This year the Marian Shrine of Fatima is celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three little shepherds at this location. This reminded me of my 2010 visit there, and decided to post some my pictures now. The main picture here shows the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, one of several buildings which are part of the Shrine of Fatima. It was consecrated in 1953 and visited by millions every year. A special interest to Hungarians is that there is a statue of Saint Stephen, King of Hungary inside this basilica. I put two closeups into the Workshop, one showing the Our Lady statue on the facade of the Basilica, and the other, one of the 14 alters in the Colonnade.

Workshop Picture 1: Statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in the niche of the tower of the Basilica, it was made by American Sculptor Father Thomas McGlynn in Italy.

Workshop Picture 2: One of the 14 alters in the Colonnade. The ceramic panels above the altars represent the “Stations of the Cross”
