Photographer's Note

This photo from 1984 was taken in a country which was called Yugoslavia, intended to be the common state of all south-slav nations and fallen apart in 1991. The area now belongs to Slovenia.

Predjamski Grad is a castle not far from the famous Postojna Caves ("Adelsberger Grotten" in German). A creek seeps away by the end of a valley under a rock of 123 m, with a huge cave in the middle of its height. The castle was erected at the cave's mouth during the 12th century. The present architectural situation is from 1570. There are several storeys in this cave, with secret tunnels enabling the crew to supply themselves in case of a siege.

Taken on film with Canon A1, scan from paper print.
