Photographer's Note

We spent a very nice day in Santa Cruz. One of the attrractions was the freshly opened Plaza de Espana, a square with big artificial lake with tide-supplied water and a fountain, dotted with laurel trees and fancy lanterns. A truly Spanish artsy-styled place bringing Barcelona to mind but definitely not that 'complicated' as Gaudi's designs, to be sure. The building on the picture is a part of the square - rhere's a tourist information office inside as well as an art gallery. The roof is covered with plats (the other side is black with cacti sitting in rouded cavities as if they were eggs in an egg-holder. Pretty imeginative design by Herzog&Meuron architect office.
