Photographer’s Note
...A Journey to the Center of the Earth is a classic 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story involves a professor who leads his nephew and hired guide down a volcano in Iceland to the "center of the Earth". They encounter many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy. From a scientific point of view, this story has not aged quite as well as other Verne stories, since most of his ideas about what the interior of the Earth contains have since been proven wrong. It is important to note however; that much of the works of Verne were due to his personal visualization and not an attempt to create a hypothesis; and at the time of its writing there was a dearth of knowledge concerning the earth's core. However, a redeeming point to the story is Verne's own belief, told within the novel from the viewpoint of a character, that the inside of the Earth does indeed differ from that which the characters encounter...

So many great elements here, the chequer board ceiling, the horizontal black boards, and that huge red stripe - reflected in the stainless steel. Excellent composition with that un-nerving tilt and the scary POV. Marvellous, Roberto

Hi Korkut,
An impressive view down the escalator with blurred steps indicating it is moving... nice tight crop, good light management and colors. The tilt gives a special atmosphere... maybe some people down there would have been nice too!

A very nice POV. I feel the sensation of falling down, when watching the picture. I like the tilted view and the red bands, which give color to the picture.
Do you have a version also with some human figure (not too big) on the stairs ? I wonder if it is better or not including a human figure.

Hello Korkut
This is a stunning image which draws us down into it. Very disturbing!
The composition is perfect and the black, white and red adds to the impact.
The WS shot has great impact too, but on the main picture I think anything that obscured, or distracted from, the focal point would be a mistake.
Best wishes Maggie

Selam sevgili Korkut,

Merhaba Korkut,
Yeah I see you're working on your french, possibly considering joining the next TE meetings here ;-)
The perspective is superb and the rendering of this indoors photo very nice, also very well fitting to a sci-fi novel, even though by this time it probably would have all appeared a bit more rustical, I like it a lot.

Hi Korkut!
I see that you picked out a photo which reflects perfectly the specific beauty and particular highlights of Stockholm. This place is indeed very characteristic and unique and can certainly not be found in any other city. :-DDD
You make me jealous. We have plenty of metro stations with escalators like this, but I did not have the idea to take such a shot. Damn! Now it’s too late, I lost the chance. It’s really a very aesthetical, urbanistic reference to the geology of Jule Vernes. POV and framing are here the undoubtedly the key players which generate the fascination of this image. To capture the escalator with such an unreal steep angle was a fantastic idea.
Although I generally prefer images with people, in this case I think that the version without looks better.
Cheers

Korkut,
A quite interesting graphical image that didn't make any sense as a thumbnail. Yet the feast of colors made me open it and finally the main post shows all the madness of lines, geometric forms and colors. What a daring architecture to blend all this together. The slow shutter giving the slight blur of the yellow line was a great add to it!

Superb capture that should go to the cover of your book - you must sell your story! :))) The alternative in WS is also a stunning perspective...I might like this one more just because of the curved handrail and the presence of the venturesome people, but I'm not sure. Hi Korkut, ohhh i've seen your new picture intro and the WS on isa's picture, great, beautiful baby :))
A pleasure to see you writing a french title, from such a famous book, yes this fits perfectly the mood of this picture, I love it, falling perspective as if we were falling into earth center.
Very nice
I would have perhaps focused more on this perspective : do this little thing (as i can't submit more WS) : scroll down this picture in order to crop half of the picture in horizontal way, then put your hands on right side of the picture and on the left side ... you will focused on what i would have shot in that situation ;)
Excellent, graphical as i like

This is all about a graphical picture of a very normal daily life scene. Escalators are part of our lives and yet nobody really takes care looking at those strange things. And now, they are going deeper and deeper, as you say, to the center of the earth! I really enjoy the black and white checkers, the red walls and the fine yellow lines. So, colour is the other main feature in your photo. Well done.
I also have an escalator in my gallery, but in my photo the guy is about to go up. It is much less scary!!!

Merhaba Korkut,
This is an extraordinarily long escalator, unless you've emplyed an extremely wide angle lens that has magnified the distance, it appears as long as one in Moscow and another in London that I remember well as being unusually long. The colors and reflections make this one rather futuristic, evocative of the note you've added about Jules Verne's classic.
