Photographer's Note

Goats on an Alpine pasture, silhouetted against the spectacular Jungfrau and the white cone of the Silberhorn towering over Kleine Scheidegg, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland.

We were on the very easy walk from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg (fairly flat, despite all evidence to the contrary), having come up from Wengen on the cablecar. This photograph was made above Kleine Scheidegg, beneath the Lauberhorn (famous for the annual downhill ski race held there). The walk is surrounded by the most spectacular scenery, including the Eiger Nordwand right in front of you for most of the way, carpets of wildflowers in Summer, and goats and cows. And fellow walkers. As it's an easy stroll and has transport at both ends, it's predictably popular. But worth it.
