Photographer's Note

The first of three photos of the rock pyramides in Euseigne, Sion, Valais.

A particular natural phenomenon is found to the south of Sion, the capital of canton Valais, in the Val d´Herens and Val d´Heremence. The mountain spurs feature earth pyramids, moraines of loose stones which have been gradually eroded by rain. Where a large sheltering boulder caps the stones, they remain standing. A road tunnel goes through the pyramides.
