view from the summit of hen mountain in the mourne mountains of county down, northern ireland.

the mournes are constructed of different types of granite rock. here the rock has been weathered by the elements over a considerable period of time to produce these amazing channels and hollows on the surface of the granite.

within ten minutes of taking this picture another rain storm, just coming over the horizon here, had arrived resulting in countless little torrents racing down these channels towards the valley below.
