Girl and Jaguar, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

Taken in Regent's Park, London, last year in Spring. The Girl and the Jaguar is one of a number of sculptures in wood by Tom Harvey, who likes to call himself Carver Harvey. He 'carves' his works from trees, using a chain-saw and a chisel. He doesn't use a scale model or a drawing, so I suppose he just does it 'off the top of his head', as we English speakers like to say. This sculpture is really quite big, the figures being pretty well life-sized as I remember. You can read more about Carver Harvey's method by clicking this link to his website.

Hello Andrew, Nice to see you back, although probably only for a moment. Interesting sculptured carved in one piece of wood. It looks nice in nature, could be used also as a bench. Lovely picture.

Hi Andrew. At this rate, six appearances per year. Dynamic sculpture a both are poised to leap at the prey. Love the mottled look as the sun hits the seasoned carving through the leaves. Well chosen POV stressing the empathy that exists between the duo. Hope all is well. Klaudio.

Excellent capture of this very lifelike wooden sculpture that sits well against the surrounding greenery. I like very much the light and shadow play and the wonderful detail that can be observed in the woodwork.

Hello Andrew,

It's fascinating to learn something about my own country from a visitor! I had never heard of this sculpture or sculptor previously! TE is so useful!
It's a lovely sculpture, you can feel the 'prowl! And, what a great place to have it situated!
You have composed the shot well, making us feel that the pair are moving into the distance.
I particularly like the way the sunlight is lighting the elevated parts and dappling the sandy path.

Hi Andrew,
I thought first it is a view from a faraway land like Australia, the red appearing ground and interesting warm color tones of the nature around added an extraordinary feeling. We have similar sculptures in the north Yorkshire as well in parks for children. This one feels so dynamic.
