Photographer's Note

This is the interior (or what's left of it) of the greek-orthodox church of Mother of God, in Germir (in greek, "Κερμίρα"="Kermira"), a village close to Kayseri, "homeland" of world famous Greek-American (although I am not very sure that we Greeks should be very proud of him, after what he did in the "McCarthy Period"), film and theatre director Elia Kazan ("full" name, Elias Kazantzoglou). The interior might "not ring any bell" but if you take a look, at its dome and its belltower(***SEE WORKSHOP***), maybe you can recall a scene from the very young years of the hero in one of his greatest films "America, America" (1963), a movie with many autobiographical elements, telling the story of a greek immigrant that starts his "Odyssey" from a village in Central Anatolia, passes from Istanbul, before he reaches the "Land of the free, home of the brave".
