Photographer's Note

This is a follow up to one of my other Newfoundland photos about Signal hill and Cabot Tower. If you can remember the Castle i uploaded from Newfoundland, i mentioned the Cabot Trail...a walking trail along the cliffs in St. John's harbour, with the Cabot Tower majestically set ontop of the cliffs.

This trail is popular with locals and tourists, and its also very very dangerous. Several people have died falling down the cliffs into the ocean, mostly due to the high winds and narrow path. If you look closely, you can see the trail along the right side of the photo. Its very steep, rocky, and your body wont win the fight if you fall down into the Atlantic Ocean from above.

When Tosca (westcoastgirl1) and I walked it, it was sunny and bright, but windy, and that was our mistake -its recommended not to walk the trail in high winds. We had a couple of close calls, she actually tripped twice, causing both of us to have near heart attacks.

As for the setup of the photo, i really didn't care much, i just wanted to keep my feet grounded with a wide stance for balance, couldn't focus too much on composition, shutter speeds or F stops!

If ever coming to St. John's Newfoundland, and you have guts, take this 1.5 hour loop trail around Cabot Tower/Signal Hill, it will be memorable to say the least!

have a great day everyone
