Photographer's Note

Besides the archeology and culture of course, it was also the Mexican food that tempted me to visit this impressive country.
I must admit that were the historical part left me bewildered, the culinary experience in Mexico was slightly disappointing. But then again, that was before I met Maria!
Around the area of San Cristobal de Las Casas we visited a few villages and in one of them we were invited into a modest hut, run by Maria. The timing of this visit was - not so coincidently - lunchtime!
The food that Maria served us was cooked with very little means as the image tells, but water still comes to my mouth when I recall the taste of these delicious tortillas with a simple tomato filling and some cheese.
This special meal was towards the end of my Mexican trip, and in no time Maria changed my view on the Mexican cuisine with her fantastic tortillas fiesta!

I post another image of Maria while baking tortillas and I like the impression on her face there very much. I didn't post this image as the main one since it has some stains that I can not remove. Feel free to try a WS if you like!
