Photographer's Note

Mirror-polished paint on a 1957 Chevrolet!

Craig's post today of the front end of this model prompted me to pull this shot of the rear! This was another shot from that great car show in Albuquerque -- way fun!

What was remarkable to me is how this shot showed the depth of data in a RAW file. On first viewings (and in most automatic processings to jpg) the trunk (boot) lid was very close to straight black. (I HAVE ADDED A WS SHOWING AN ORIGINAL JPG.) Only the vaguest suggestion of clouds was visible toward the top. I dodged the midtones a bit, then some more, then some more, and was amazed and surprised at the details in the reflection -- the blue sky, the clouds, the patrons. To me, PP made this image at least a LITTLE different from a garden-variety shot of the chrome on a '57.
