Photographer's Note

Main Street, on Mackinaw Island, Michigan. This island sits in Lake Huron, off the mainland from the state of Michigan. Most of the island is a state park. No vehicle are allowed on the island, and the only mode of transportation is horse and buggy, bicycles, or walking. Michigan's only five star hotel, The Grand, sits on a bluff on the island. The hotel is over 100 years old. There are many historic inns and buildings. The island is approx. 8 miles around, and has great cycling and hiking trails. A wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing. Normally the street would be crowded, but it was after Labor Day in the middle of the week. An 8 second exposure at F8, off a tripod.

great shot! I love how you set the shot up. the colors are great as well. i have heard of that place, it's nice to see a picture of it.

Great view of the main street on Mackinac Island at night. Nice, low, point of view to extend the street out far. The lighting is well exposed and there is enough color still in the sky to make it a nice velvet like surface above. I like this emptiness, not like I have seen when I have been there in the busy summer periods. The bikes also offer a neat view of the uniqueness of the island. Bikes instead of cars on angle parking. The buildings are always interesting, too, more so like this. Just one tidbit, could you possibly change the location to Mackinac Island just to organize it correctly into the database and other shots of the island. The island and bridge are spelled with "C" at the end while the city on the mainland is spelled with a "W" at the end.

This really captures the night-time essence of the island, except for the fact that you somehow got all the people out of the way at a fairly early hour! It is a very nice shot.
