Photographer's Note

This is a section of Sam Houston National forest, some 50 miles north of Houston. It is over 163,000 acres. The temperatures in the summer are hot and humid, and it has very mild and short winters. This place can collect an average rain fall of 44 inches (110 cm)over the year.
Many animals can be found here, including some allowed for hunting, and also some endangered species. The most popular for hunting is deer. Some endangered animals such as red-cockaded woodpecker can also be found throughout the forests
