Photographer's Note

This couple was enjoying the view of the Harding Ice Field, in the mountains above Seward, Alaska, when I arrived at the top of the trail. The trails climbs up 3000 feet (900m) through several climate zones--first forest, then tundra-type landscape, and finally mostly bare rock, ending at the point shown. The beautiful Exit Glacier, which tumbles down from the icefield, is alongside all the way.

The glacier, like most in Alaska, is receding rapidly.

The location is on the south central coast of Alaska, 2 hours' drive southeast of Anchorage.
