A Tioga Idyll

Some months ago I posted a photo of a lake at the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State: An Olympic Idyll. Here’s another idyllic lake view, which I was about to call “A Yosemite Idyll”, before realising that the photo was taken just after we had passed the Tioga Pass entrance (and for us exit) of Yosemite National Park. Tioga Pass is the eastern entry point for Yosemite National Park. At 3,031 metres, it is the highest highway pass in the Sierra Nevada.

Seen here is Tioga Lake, a small glacial lake located in the Inyo National Forest and the Sierra Nevada mountains. The mountain in the background is Mount Dana, which also featured in my previous to photos, which isn’t surprising considering that it’s the second highest mountain in Yosemite National Park (3,981 metres).
